The study of Yoga has been a natural choice for me to satisfy my desire for movement and to cultivate inner balance. I became a yoga instructor after completing yoga teacher training from the Integral Yoga Institute in 1989. I began teaching pre-natal yoga and gradually my teaching evolved to include a beginner’s yoga class, a back-care class and seniors. I recently completed a 500 hour Teacher Training with the American Viniyoga Institute. I have been attracted to the Viniyoga approach to yoga since 1990 when I attended a workshop on personal practice with Gary Kraftsow. I like the focus on the breath and the sophisticated adaptation of the breath in yoga asana that is emphasized in the Vinigyoga approach. Yoga has been and is a powerful tool for me to access my inner stillness. My current study of the yoga sutras has brought an added dimension to my understanding of yoga as a deep spiritual practice. It is my desire, as a teacher, to share my understanding of yoga as a practice to unite body, mind and spirit.
Art has been a constant in my life. I have an undergraduate degree in Art History and a graduate degree in Art Therapy. I have been a fine art student throughout my adult life. My eyes are always capturing images in the natural and man-made world that express beauty which is inherent in everything when we stop and take the time to really look. Color as an expression of the life force is present everywhere when you allow it to embrace you. I always appreciate beauty, however it presents itself, whether it is found in the shape and movement of the human form or the sound of a child’s laugh.
